What is a FREE MARKET? The Milwaukee Free Market is, in a sense, a flea market supplied by community donations in which no monetary transactions occur. Its aim is to redistribute to peoples in need, the disproportionate distribution of excess goods in our community. By doing so in the “Free Market” fashion, it allows for a diverse mix of peoples to interact directly by making the simple act of donation a “direct action” community event. The idea is that people can bring things they no longer need and in return take what they do. (we however place no requirements on solely taking in need) This allows for a potential blurring of the overbearing race and class divides apparent in our community. The market is an event open to all where In addition to free goods, services usually rendered with a fee, are offered FREE of charge.
