Infomation

Our Mission:
As an organization we strive to make the welfare of our neighbors a cooperative responsibility for the community at large, actively engaging and exploring alternative and sustainable methods for developing and sustaining healthy communities. We feel it is wholly possible to sustainably serve the needs of our community through a localized sharing of commodities, experience, and space. Together we can learn... Together we can create change.
How do we achieve our goals?
-Commodity Reform / "Free Culture Philosophy":
-
Transportation of excess goods and commodities (Clothing, Home Goods, etc.) from areas of excess, to areas of need.
-
Utilization of surplus to lessen dependency on excessive over production of goods. (Fight against the “Culture of Production” and its devastating effects)
-
Utilization of public space for the collection and distribution of shared goods and commodities, creating a point of public convergence within a community.
-
Create an alternative system of commodity circulation without a dependency on capital.
-
Eliminate “middle-man enterprises” in surplus reallocation. This focuses relief dependency on local communities as opposed to “outside influences” and more directly reflects the individual needs of a specified community..
-
Open individual income to more important costs of living by supplying basic living needs that exist in abundance in and around our communities. (i.e.- rent, utilities, healthcare, etc.)
-
Educate the community utilizing local experience and knowledge in the fields of self reliance and self-sufficiency to ease the burdens of current costs of living (Sewing, Urban Gardening, Home Repair, etc.)
-
Educate against the tendencies of today's “throw away” culture by offering sustainable living alternatives while actively promoting long-term vision and planning skills.
-
Actively work towards creating an economic, cultural, political, and environmental culture of sustainability within our communities.
-
Through active public engagement, Inter-Community support networks should be built to address concerns between bordering communities.
